Peloponnese – The Route of Truce
Saturday 25th – Tuesday 28th April 2026
The Route of Truce is a successful event co-organized by the Municipality of Ilida — the city that hosted the Ancient Olympic Games — and the Organizing Committee of the Truce Run. We take part and walk the route from Ancient Elis to Ancient Olympia, where the Olympic Games were held. The central event is a 50 km non-competitive race, where all finishers are awarded. Participants come from more than 25 countries. The event aims to highlight the Olympic value of the Truce.
We pass through 13 villages of semi-mountainous Elis, enjoying the beautiful landscape among olive groves, vineyards, pomegranate trees and aromatic plants, while filling ourselves with the kindness, warm welcome and hospitality of the people of this historic and sacred land. Our goal is to bridge the ancient with the modern, to remind everyone why the Olympic Games were held, and to bring back to the forefront the ideals, respect for humanity, and the sacred right to Peace. In the days following the race, we will visit the archaeological site and the museum of Ancient Olympia.
We also walk through the fairy-tale oak forest of Foloi and among the oak trees in the Centaurs’ Gorge! And the Centaurs—well, they will surely treat us to something at the rest area there!
On our return, we climb the steep rock of Acrocorinth and enjoy a guided tour of the castle and Ancient Corinth.
Payment should be made to the IBAN accounts of the Heraklion Mountaineering Club (EOS Herakleiou), and the Club should be notified by email by sending the proof of deposit.
