Samaria Gorge

Saturday 30th May – Monday 1st June 2026

On Saturday, we depart for the Omalos Plateau in Chania (1080m), and from Xyloskalo (1250m), we begin crossing the famous Samaria Gorge. We end up in Agia Roumeli, where we spend the night either in rooms or tents.

Sunday is free for swimming, rest, or short hikes, such as climbing to the Turkish castle above Agia Roumeli or swimming at the beach of Agios Pavlos.

On Whit Monday (Pentecost Monday), optionally, we hike the E4 trail heading east toward Loutro. Along the way, we stop at Agios Pavlos, Marmara, for swimming and/or food, and at Finikas. We arrive in Loutro in the afternoon and enjoy a coffee while waiting for the boat to Chora Sfakion.

Those who do not wish to hike on Monday can take the boat from Agia Roumeli to Chora Sfakion in the afternoon. From there, the bus will take us back to Heraklion.

⚠️ IMPORTANT: The Club does NOT arrange accommodation in Agia Roumeli. Anyone wishing to stay in a room – rather than a tent – must book their own accommodation in Agia Roumeli.
