44th Pan-Cretan Mountaineering Event
Saturday, September 5th – Sunday, September 6th, 2026
Every year, mountaineers from all the Mountaineering Clubs of Crete meet to hike together and get to know one another better. This year, the gathering is organized by EOS Moires and will take place in the wider area of the enchanting Rouvas Forest (950 m).
PROGRAM OF THE 44th PAN-CRETAN MOUNTAINEERING GATHERING IN ROUVAS FOREST
Saturday, September 5, 2026
16:00–18:00 – Arrival and reception of the Mountaineering Clubs
How to get there:
a) By private car from the village of Gergeri. Parking is available either at the Seli location or at a designated area that will be indicated near the event venue. Parking inside the forest is not permitted.
b) By bus to the Seli location, also from Gergeri, followed by a 1-hour downhill hike. Tents and backpacks will be transported to the event venue in our own vehicles.
19:00–20:00 – Welcome and greetings
20:00–23:30 – Dinner
Traditional music, singing and dancing.
Sunday, September 6, 2026
07:00–08:30 – Breakfast
08:00 – Long hike: Rouvas – Dyo Prini – Samari – Vrontisi
09:00 – Short hike: Messa Rouvas
14:00 – End of the event and departure
Buses can wait at Seli to pick up participants who take the short route and then continue to Vrontisi to pick up those who take the long route.
Those arriving by private vehicle should make their own arrangements if they wish to take part in the long hike.
Participation fee: €12
Participants are kindly asked to bring their own personal eating utensils. No plastic items will be provided.
There is drinking water available in the forest, so please bring your water bottle and refill it there.
Please register your participation by August 25, 2026.
