// The Paths Of War – Kidnapping General Kreippe VIII: Alones

The final part of the route follows the footsteps of the abductors of the German General Kreipe.

We begin between the villages of Alones (510m) and Vilandredo (380m), following a small gorge to ascend Mount Kryoneritis.

Continuously heading uphill – without a clearly marked trail – we reach the area of Asfentames (950m), located below the highest and namesake peak of Kryoneritis (1310m), where we will come across old shepherd huts (mitata).

From there, walking along a dirt road and goat paths heading south, we descend steeply towards the village of Ano Rodakino (230m), enjoying a stunning view of the sea. We then follow a paved road that leads us to the beach of Peristeres.

The route is almost entirely off-trail, rocky, bushy, and difficult to navigate. Water resupply is not possible at any point during the hike.

Caution! For those with allergies or respiratory issues, the blooming thorny shrubs (angarathia) during this time of year make the passage particularly challenging along almost the entire route.
