a. Kollita Farangia (Twin Gorges)
Sunday, November 16th, 2025
A hike along Kollita Farangia, meaning twin gorges, in Rethymno Prefecture.
We start from the village of Moundros, cross the Velonado Gorge till the village of Velonado, and then enter the Kato Poros Gorge, which is parallel to the first one and full of trees. Its characteristic feature is the spot where it gets impressively narrow and imposing.
We continue to a place called Five Virgins with a small Byzantine church, numerous excavated Roman tombs belonging to ancient Lappa, and a huge platan tree. We end our hike in the beautiful village of Argyroupolis.
Payment should be made to the bank accounts of the Mountaineering Club of Heraklion (EOS Herakliou) and proof of payment sent by e-mail to inform the Club.
