Diktamos Gorge

Sunday, July 20th, 2025

A hike through the impressive Diktamos Gorge in Western Crete.

We arrive at Kato Chorio (299 m), from where we begin our hike through the Diktamos Gorge. The gorge is lush and beautiful, filled with towering plane trees and oleanders, while its steep vertical cliffs are home to diktamos—the endemic herb of Crete. The trail is well-marked with red signs, but in some places—especially due to heavy rainfall—certain difficult passages require extra caution.

We finish at the village of Stylos (40 m). Then the bus takes us to a nearby beach to enjoy the sea.
