b. Gigilos Peak

A hike in the White Mountains and ascent to the peak of the imposing Mt Gigilos, the rocky mountain above Samaria Gorge.

Early on Sunday morning, we set off for Omalos Plateau, We start our hike from Xyloskalo, at 1200m a.s.l. and follow the E4 European trail. We pass by impressive rock formations, we have a short stop at Linoseli, the water spring, and then reach the saddle at 1650m enjoying the view. We continue on a difficult rocky terrain admiring the breathtaking view over the biggest part of western Crete until we reach the top, at 1980m.

We follow the same route on our way down.

The hike is suitable for fit and experienced in rocky terrain hikers.
