Etia – Perivolakia Gorge – Kapsa Monastery
Sunday 16th June 2024
A beautiful hike in eastern Crete.
We start from the Venetian settlement of Etia, at 510m a.s.l. and we follow a dirt road until we reach the abandoned monastery of Agia Sofia on a nice plateau. The dirt road leads us to the picturesque villages of Ano and Kato Perivolakia, where we have a rest.
We continue along the Perivolakia Gorge, an impressive and at times steep gorge, surrounded by vertical rock walls. We end in the small Kapsa Monastery. The day ends with a cool swim in the sea.
