Ziros – Zakros – Gorge of the Dead – Chochlakies Gorge
Saturday 17th – Sunday 18th September 2022
A two day trip to eastern Crete.
On Saturday the bus takes us to the village of Ziros, at 590m a.s.l. Following the E4 European trail we hike down to Pano Zakrow village. Then we hike across the Gorge of the Dead until we reach Kato Zakros. We spend the night in tents on the beach.
On Sunday we head northwards following a coastal path. We hike past the Pelekita Cave, have a stop at Karoumes beach for a swim and continue up the Chochlakies Gorge.
During the hike we carry only a small rucksack. The rest of our things are transported by bus.
