Vreiko Cave – Pefki Gorge

We set off from Pefki village (420m) in eastern Crete. Following a path and a dirt road we reach Vreiko Cave (540m), which we can visit if we have our flashlight. It’s 30m deep and remains of a neolithic settlement have been found in it.
Then we follow a dirt road we hike up the hill of Estavromenos (620m), with a small church on top and a great view. Afterwards, a path leads us down to the village of Pefki (420m), where we have a stop for a cold refreshment.
Later we cross the Pefki Gorge, a green and full of beautiful rock formations small gorge. We end our day in Makrygialos with a swim in the sea.
