Astyraki – Trypiti – Kamariotis
Sunday 6th February 2022
A new hike for the Heraklion Mountaineering Club, the path across two beautiful small plateaus at an altitude of ~ 600m, not far from Heraklion. We start from the village of Astyraki crossing the small plateau located west and we continue to the plateau of Kamariotis. After crossing it, we reach the area of Trypiti, where we explore its impressive rocky formations. Moving around, we reach the village of Kamariotis, where we will visit the two exceptional Byzantine churches, agios Georgios and Panagia as well as the small ecclesiastic museum. If the weather permits, we will have a picnic under the beautiful oaks and rocks of the area. We will move mostly on dirt roads without particular altitude differences. The hike is suitable for new participants.
*All participants have got to present a negative rapid test or a vaccination certificate and wear an FFP2 face mask on the bus.
