Psiloritis Peak
Sunday, July 4, 2021
We hike up to the highest peak of Crete, the Holy Cross (2,456m). The hike is free of charge for the Club members and is dedicated to the memory of our dear friend and mountaineer Fofo Tsividak, who passed away a year ago.
From the village of Livadia Mylopotamos (600m) we reach Lakkos Mygeros (1550m). From there, the ascent begins across the northern slope of the mountain following an uphill, well-built signposted path, the well-known Strata of Psiloritis. Later, below Agathias (2,424m), the path meets the European path E4 that leads to the top Timios Stavros (2456m), the roof of Crete, with a unique panoramic view.
We return following the same path down to Lakkos Mygeros, where there will be a treat to remember Fofo.
