Agia Irini Gorge – Sougia Beach- Paleochora

Saturday 10th – Sunday 11th July 2021

A weekend in Western Crete that combines hiking in beautiful surroundings and swimming in exotic seas.

We set off on Saturday afternoon to Omalos Plateau, Chania, at 1080m. At a point called Seliniotikos Poros, we start crossing the beautiful and green Gorge of Agia Irini. We end in Sougia Beach with the crystal clear blue waters, where we spend the night on the beach or in rooms.

On Sunday morning we start our hike along the coast westwards to Paleochora following the European trail E4. On the way, we cross the Lissos Gorge and we visit Lissos archaeological site. We also stop for short swims at beautiful small beaches.

People who do not wish to join the hike on Sunday can spend the day in Sougia Beach and go to Paleochora by bus in the afternoon, where they can join the rest of the group.
