Samaria Gorge

Saturday 25th – Sunday 26th July 2020

As every year the Mountaineering Club of Heraklion organises the crossing of the famous Samaria Gorge.

We set off early on Saturday morning to Omalos Plateau, Chania. We enter the gorge at Xyloskalo, at 1200m a.s.l. On our way, we pass by the old village of St Maria and Portes, the narrowest point of the gorge and we end in Agia Roumeli, where we spend the night either in rooms or tents.

Sunday is free for relaxing and swimming or short hikes around. We start our journey back in the afternoon, first by boat to Chora Sfakion and then by bus to Heraklion.

**ATTENTION: Face masks are absolutely required for use on the bus on both days.
