Two days in the imposing White Mountains in western Crete.
We set off on Saturday noon. We reach Omalos Plateau, at 1080m a.s.l. and we hike along a trail to Kallergi Refuge, where we spend the night. Trail length: 5 km.
Early on Sunday morning, we start our ascent to Melidaou Peak, at 2,133m following at first the snow-covered dirt road and later the E4 trail. If possible we may visit a couple of nearby peaks, too. On our way down we stop by the Refuge, collect our things and hike down to Xyloskalo following the classic trail. Trail length: 15,2 km.
