a. Toumbotos prinos Refuge – Psiloritis Peak
Saturday 3rd – Sunday 4th March, 2018
A winter ascent on Psiloritis Peak.
We start our hike on Saturday afternoon from the village of Kouroutes, at 550m, in the south of Mt Psiloritis. Provided the road is clear of snow, a small truck takes us up to a higher point, at 700m a.s.l., and then we hike to Toumbotos Prinos Refuge, at 1400m, where we spend te night.
On Sunday we ascend to Mt Psiloritis Peak, Timios Stavros, at 2456m a.s.l. On our way down we go past the Refuge and we continue along a wooded trail down to the village of Fourfouras, at 600m.
Winter gear, winter experience and fitness are required for all participants. The beds in the Refuge are limited, so early registering is recommended.
