A weekend in the unique region of Sfakia in western Crete and ascent to the highest peak of the White Mountains.
We set off on Saturday afternoon towards Sfakia. On the way, we stop for a swim at Iligas beach. Later we reach the small village of Agios Ioannis, where we spend the night either in rooms or in tents in the full moonlight.
Early on Sunday morning, we set off. We use small trucks to reach a spot called Rousses, at 1900m a.s.l. From there we go up to Pachnes peak, at 2452m. On the way back we take the same route. The day ends with another swim on Sunday afternoon.
