Lastros – Kapsas Peak – Kavousi

A hike on the “balcony” over Merabello bay.

Our hike starts near the village of Lastros, at 320m a.s.l. Following the clear trail upwards we reach the small chapel of Agios Ioannis, at 820m. We continue to Kapsas peak, at 999m that offers magnificent panoramic view over Merabello bay and both the Cretan and Libyan Sea. Then we go down along the same trail and split in two groups.

The first group continues southwards to Avgos village and then along the old stone-built trail down to Kavousi village, at 130m. The second group returns to Lastros and then takes the bus to Kavousi.

If there is time, we may go swimming at a nearby beach.
