37th Pancretan Mountaineering Event
Saturday 9th – Sunday 10th September 2017
Once every year all Cretan mountaineers meet on a mountain to socialise and hike together. This year this event is organised by the Mountaineering Clubs of Rethymnon and takes place in the Aravanes area on the nortern slopes of Mt Psiloritis.
On Saturday we reach the camping site after a two-hour-hike. Our baggage is transferred in trucks. Later there are gretings and gift exchange between the Clubs. Then dinner and a fest follow. We spend the night in tents in Agios Konstantinos, at 1360m a.s.l.
On Sunday there are two hikes. The longer one, 6 hour-long, starts at 8.00 and goes up to Arapis Peak, then to Agios Georgios Methystis. The shortest one, 4-hour-long, starts at 9.00 and goes to Agios Georgios Methystis. Then there is light lunch served and the event ends at 15.00.
