Sternes – Kofinas – Kapetaniana

A hike in the Asterousia Mountains in Southern Crete.

We start from the village of Sternes, at 310m a.s.l. Following paths or just hiking up, we reach the green but deserted settlement of Agios Nikolaos. Then we hike up the highest peak of the Mountains, Kofinas at 1231m a.s.l., where we can enjoy the panoramic view all around us. We end in the village of Kapetaniana, at 864m, following dirt roads.
