3-day trip to Samaria Gorge

May 30th-31st & June 1st, 2015

As every year the Mountaineering Club of Heraklion organises the crossing of the famous Samaria Gorge.

We set off on Saturday afternoon to Omalos Plateau, Chania, where we spend the night.

On Sunday we enter the gorge at Xyloskalo, at 1,200m a.s.l. On our way we pass by the old village of St Maria and Portes, the narrowest point of the gorge and we end in Agia Roumeli, where we spend the night in rooms or tents.

Monday is free for relaxing and swimming or short hikes around. We start our journey back in the afternoon by boat to Chora Sfakion and then to Heraklion.
