Kollita Farangia (Twin gorges)

A hike alnf Kollita Farangia, meaning twin gorges, in Rethymno Prefecture.

We start from the village of Moundros, we cross the Velonado gorge till the village of Velonado and then we enter the Kato Poros gorge, which is parallel to the first one and full of trees. It’s characteristic feature is the spot where it gets very narrow and imposing.

We continue to a place called Five Virgins with a small byzantine church, numerousexcavated Roman tombs belonging to ancient Lappa and a huge platan tree. We end our hike in Argyroupolis.

It’s in our plans to perform a short trail maintenance, so volunteers are kindly requested to say so when registered to the hike.
