Dafni – Vreiko Cave – Pefki Gorge
On Sunday june 29th, 2014, we set off from Dafni village (580m) in the area of Sitia in eastern Crete. Following a path and a dirt road we reach Vreiko Cave (610m), which we can visit if we have our flashlight. It’s 30m deep and remains of a neolithic settlement have been found in it.
Then we follow a dirt road to the hill of Estavromenos (620m), with a small church on top and great view. We follow a path down to the village of pefki (420m), where we have a stop for a cold refreshment.
Later we cross the Pefki Gorge, a green and full of beautiful rock formations small gorge. We end our day in Makrygialos with a swim in the sea.
