Sunday 7th

Lassithi Plateau – Tsouli Mnima – Kastamonitsa

Starting from the Lassithi Plateau (810m), we follow a trail to the area of Tsouli Mnima (940m) – the site of execution and curse of the notorious janissary Tsoulis. We then descend via the old Minoan path and end our hike in the village of Kastamonitsa (520m).

Paranymfi – Monastery of Koudoumas – Agios Ioannis

A hike through the most beautiful part of the Asterousia mountains, filled with the scent of pine trees and views of the endless blue sea. We begin from Paranymfi, pass by the Monastery of Saint Paul, the carob forest of the Three Churches, the Koudoumas Monastery, and the cave of Saint Anthony, finishing in the small village of Agios Ioannis, from where pickup trucks take us up to Kapetaniana.

Holidays at Prinos Refuge

The Prinos Mountain Refuge of the Heraklion Mountaineering Club is to be open during the holiday season for anyone wishing to visit and/or stay overnight. Prior arrangement with the  person in charge is required.
