// New Year’s Cake Cutting Celebration

We welcome 2026 with the best wishes for an easy outing to the Gafaris Gorge, suitable for both experienced and new hikers, as well as adults and children, with strong or less strong legs.

Faithful to the New Year tradition, we cut our Club’s Vasilopita (New Year’s cake) for the new year at the Mitata, in the Sellia area of Gergeri. Then, weather permitting, we start hiking down to Agios Giannis in Rouvas Forest, cross the Gafaris Gorge, and finish at Zaros Lake.

A full meal with gifts and good company follows at a local taverna by Zaros Lake.

Please register by Thursday, 15 January 2024 (so we can plan quantities).

Payment should be made to the IBAN accounts of the Heraklion Mountaineering Club (EOS Herakleiou), and the Club should be notified by email by sending the proof of deposit.
