Trypiti Gorge
Saturday 28th – Sunday 29th March 2026
Early on Saturday morning, we start from the Omalos Plateau (1,160 m) heading toward Mt Gigilos. At the saddle (1,700 m), where the path to Koustogerako meets the trail to Gigilos, the downhill route that essentially marks the beginning of the Trypiti Gorge crossing starts. The passages are very specific, exposed, and rather dangerous. We hike down to the gorge bed (700m). From there, we follow the streambed—a rocky river—down to its exit at the Libyan Sea, enjoying the tranquility and wild beauty of the landscape.
Depending on the group’s pace and condition, the overnight stay will be decided: either inside the gorge, on the beach of Trypiti, or ideally near Profitis Ilias. On the second day, we walk along a clear and well-defined coastal path to Sougia.
The route is intended exclusively for experienced hikers without a fear of heights, in excellent physical condition, and capable of carrying overnight gear.
