Schinokapsala – Rakokazano

The starting point of our hike will be the area of Psychró, located between the villages of Schinokapsala and Agios Ioannis, at an altitude of 460 meters.

We will ascend to the chapel of Saint George, and from there, following an old trail, we will reach the location called “Pera Nero” (680 m) and then “Kynigospilios” (750 m). From this point, we will head east (off-trail) to “Limnia” (770 m), from where we will descend towards “Agisarolakkos” (620 m).

Continuing downhill, walking through sections of old paths and dirt roads, we will arrive at the village of Schinokapsala (400 m), where we’ll board the bus that will take us to the rakokazano (traditional raki distillery) for the rest of the day.

Most of our route passes through pine forest, filled with beautiful autumn aromas — damp earth, pine needles, sage, and thyme. At the rakokazano, freshly distilled raki made from Ornio grapes and grilled meat over charcoal will be waiting for us!
