Chalki Island

Eight days on Chalki Island, Dodecanese, very near Rhodos Island but so remote at the same time. Nearly intact by time, the only inhabited village of the island, Emporio, still keeps the thriving image of the early 19th century deriving from sponge fishing.

Many hikes are going to be organised along the numerous paths of the island, which lead us to interesting monuments and spots of natural beauty.

Small byzantine churches with remains of frescos, old settlements, old monastery cells, crystal clear beaches and a traditional fair on August 29th are the highlights of the trip.

Transportation by ship straight from and back to Ηeraklion. Accommodation in recently renovated traditional houses.
