From Radamanthys to Minos II: Plouti – Ancient Gortyna – Vourvoulitis
Sunday 26th April 2026
This Sunday, we continue with the second section of the routes linking the archaeological sites of Phaistos and Knossos.
Our starting point is the village of Plouti (the finishing point of the first section). Following a trail, we reach the archaeological site of Gortyna, home to the evergreen plane tree—the place associated with the love story of Zeus and Europa, whose union produced their three sons: Minos, Sarpedon, and Radamanthys.
After our guided visit to the site, we continue our hike, mainly along dirt roads, and reach the village of Vourvoulitis, where the hike ends.
Payment must be made to the IBAN accounts of the Heraklion Mountaineering Club (EOS Heraklion), and the Club must be informed by sending the deposit receipt via email.
